MyOSS Meetup August 2006
The theme for this month is international speakers! This month we have two special guest speakers from overseas Wouter Tebbens, and Görkem Çetin. Wouter would present on the SELF project, and help contribute his experience to the Malaysian Community. Görkem will be presenting on his Turkish government led distribution Pardus. This is a once in a life time chance, so don't miss out on it!

The Science, Education and Learning in Freedom, or SELF project (http://selfproject.eu/) will create a platform for the sharing of knowledge on Free Software and Open Standards. The aim is to facilitate the adoption of Free Software in educational and governmental institutions, in business and not-for profit organisations. The SELF platform will provide an educational knowledge repository where interested users can browse through and download Free educational and training materials on the most important free technologies. The European Commission sees this as a strategical objective and is the first to fund this international project with an initial 1 million euro.
Pardus Linux is a distribution widely used in Turkey, with innovative ideas and technologies like fast booting, a new packaging model, new init system and a new, fast installer. It is being developed in TUBITAK, Turkish Technology Research Institute and used in many private establishments and governmental organizationsWhen:
