Nowadays, we have so many cool, cute and small inventions that used to be big, and these inventions were created to ease our lives, such as an automatic vacuum cleaner that will move by itself and clean your floors. Another example is that mop spinner, where you do not have to twist your mop with your hands, as your hand would get dirty, and this spinner is to help, so you would not have to go through it. But these inventions can not help maintaining our vegetables fresh longer. Sometimes when you buy your groceries, and you would like to keep as you do not have time or mood to make use of it. But the issue has always been how to keep it fresh longer so you would not have bought it and waste your money. Obviously, not all vegetables are the same, and how we store them also matters.

There are some vegetables that need to be stored a room temperature, where they are away from heat, moisture, and light. It can be in the basket on the kitchen shelves or you can just put it in the kitchen cupboard. Nowhere close to the oven, specifically. Not to forget, to put the vegetables in a dark place, where they cannot get the light or they will think they are outside and starts to sprout. This can at least store the vegetables a weak, a month longer if you actually maintain the temperature in the house. Although it is okay to store your vegetables outside, some veggies cannot be put together. For example, onions and potatoes cannot be put together or potatoes will sprout faster.

The next thing is you can store your veggies in the fridge. I am sure most do have a crisper drawer in our refrigerator, those are the place we can store our vegetables. Those crisper drawers are to control humidity. Some crisper drawers have control settings over the humidity. Low humidity is always best for fruits. Meanwhile, for vegetables, you set it up to optimum for high humidity which is between 33 to 40 F.

Last but not least, always separate your fruits and vegetables. We would usually want our fruits to ripen faster, and by that, we can store one type of fruit with another. But that is not the case with vegetables, ripened means spotting, wilting, yellowing, and basically turning bad. It means to always make sure you do not store your veggies anywhere near your fruits. If you have two crisper drawers, make sure to use for fruits and the other one for veggies. Therefore, anything whole is better than anything that is cut, and anything cut or peeled are better stored in the refrigerator.

In conclusion, these methods are given and suggested for us to know how to store our vegetables rightfully so that the veggies will not go to waste nor our money will not be wasted. But as we live in a global pandemic and I am sure that sometimes it is hard for us to go out and get our groceries, you can always get fresh vegetables delivery Malaysia.
